Transport entrepreneurs have enforced a nationwide transport strike, including in the Kathmandu Valley, starting Monday, putting forth various demands.
Public vehicles have largely remained off the roads in the Kathmandu Valley since Monday morning due to the strike. Only a couple of vehicles were seen operating in a few places.
The absence of public transportation since morning has caused significant inconvenience to the public.
College students and people heading to work early in the morning were seen waiting for public transport at bus stops.
Some people were also seen walking to their destinations.
The agitating transport entrepreneurs have put forward a seven-point demand.
Their demands include the revocation of the rules introduced by all seven provincial governments that conflict with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act.
They have also demanded that the ride-sharing regulations introduced by the Gandaki province government be scrapped immediately.
Transport entrepreneurs claim that these regulations have adversely affected public transport.
