Four people died in a tractor accident in Palanta Rural Municipality of Kalikot district on Sunday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tek Bahadur Rawat at the District Police Office, the accident occurred on Sunday night in Larpha, Palanta–2.
All four people traveling on the tractor were killed. The deceased have all been identified.
According to DSP Rawat, the deceased include Amba Shahi of Palanta–5, and Sadu Budha and Rabindra BK of Palanta-4. The tractor driver, Chandra Prakash Rokaya, a resident of Khatyad Municipality–5 in Mugu, also died in the accident.
DSP Rawat said that all four died at the scene when the tractor, heading to Chhalaha in Khin from Thirpu, Palanta-9, met with an accident at Larpha.
The location lies on the other side of the Karnali River, and the road, suitable only for tractors, is in very poor condition.
"Preliminary investigation found that the accident occurred as it was nighttime and the road is rough," he said. "I received the news at 12:05 AM, and police were immediately dispatched to the scene. Currently, officers are at the site preparing the necessary documentation."
