The Health Ministry has sough explanation from Infectious Disease Expert of the Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku Dr Sher Bahadur Pun.
Chief of the administration section at the hospital Rup Narayan Khatiwada confirmed that the ministry sent the letter Friday evening but added that he has yet to open the letter. "The letter apparently arrived yesterday evening. I was outside then. The matter will be known once I open the letter tomorrow," Khatiwada told Setopati.
Another official at the hospital, however, confirmed that the letter has arrived in Dr Pun's name and informal discussion was held about the issue.
The ministry is unhappy with Dr Pun in recent times for what it deems unnecessarily speaking with the media. "The ministry had been targeting me from the beginning. I am sure the letter has come for me," Dr Pun stated.
He claimed that a few in the ministry could not bear him raising awareness among the people. "The matter is clear. Some have not liked that I am seen at the forefront."
Claiming that he has not spoken unnecessary things, he said he is ready to face all kinds of questions. "I speak to ensure that people are sensitized. I have spoken only on technical issues," he pointed. "They should stop heart, kidney and all kinds of specialists from tomorrow if they think so."
He said additional things will be known once he goes to the ministry. "I must go after the letter has arrived. I will know about the rest of things after going tomorrow."
