Journalist Ravi Lamichhane has been acquitted in the case of abetting suicide of fellow journalist Shalik Ram Pudasaini.
A bench of judge Hemanta Rawal at the Chitwan District Court on Sunday has acquitted all three defendants including Lamichhane in the case.
The District Attorney Office, Chitwan had filed the case of abetting suicide against the trio including journalist Yuvaraj Kandel who works with Lamichhane for News24 Television and Ashmita Karki (Ruku).
Pudasaini, who then worked with Mountain Television, had committed suicide by hanging himself at a Chitwan-based hotel on August 6.
The trio had been arrested after a video of Pudasaini before he committed suicide became public. Pudasaini, in the video, had accused the three persons including Lamichhane of abetting the suicide.
Pudasaini, in the video recorded before his suicide, had also accused Lamichhane of extorting businessmen, crusher entrepreneurs, sand miners and others through his television program.
The three were released on bail on August 26.
