Kathmandu streets filled with garbage (Photos)

Heaps of waste materials carelessly thrown out in the Kathmandu streets since the past two weeks have increased pollution. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has earlier said that it will take some more days to collect the garbage from the Valley, owing to packed Sisdole landfill site. The garbage is not collected in the Valley for a month. KMC said the regular management of waste was disrupted due to early rainfall causing damages on the road to landfill site. It has urged the Valley dwellers not to throw the garbage outside the streets and manage them within the houses for at least a week. It manages 500 metric tons of waste daily, while it is double from the Kathmandu Valley. KMC had taken Sisdole for two years for the management of waste from Kathmandu Valley 12 years ago but it is continuous till now going beyond the contract in lack of other alternative dumping sites.
