A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court challenging the government's decision to remove Dan Bahadur Karki as inspector general of police (IGP).
Karki filed the petition through an authorized representative, seeking reinstatement as IGP.
According to advocate Tika Bahadur Kunwar, the petition was submitted to the Supreme Court on Thursday.
The petition has not yet been registered as the Supreme Court is currently reviewing it.
“We have already sent the petition. The Supreme Court is probably reviewing it,” Kunwar said.
On Wednesday, the government removed Karki as IGP and appointed him as the prime minister's security adviser.
The writ petition challenges the government's decision and seeks Karki's reinstatement as IGP.
