Home Ministry drafts bill to amend disaster-related laws

The government is set to amend some Nepal laws to make disaster-related work more organized.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Home Affairs has prepared the Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts Relating to Disasters.

According to the home minister’s secretariat, the bill has been drafted to introduce provisions concerning the search, storage, and handover of bodies to families of people who die in serious disasters, the minimum relief to be provided to the families of missing persons, and the judicial declaration of death if a missing person is not found.

The ministry has published a notice seeking feedback from the general public on the bill in accordance with the Legislative Act, 2024.

The ministry has requested the public to send their suggestions by email to legalsectionmoha@gmail.com within seven days of the publication of the notice.
