The Election Commission Nepal has written to the Office of the Election Officer instructing it not to announce the vote results from Dhanusha Constituency No. 1.
Earlier, on March 2, the commission canceled the nomination of Kishori Sah Kamal, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate for Dhanusha-1. Kamal has since filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the decision.
The Election Commission sent the letter directing officials not to declare the result of the first-past-the-post election in the constituency until the court issues an order.
During the ongoing vote count in Dhanusha-1, votes have been pouring in for Kamal, who was disqualified by the commission.
Apart from him, the contest involves Matrika Yadav of the Nepali Communist Party, Ram Paltan Sah of the Nepali Congress, and Ram Chandra Mandal of the CPN-UML.
However, Kamal has been receiving more votes than the other candidates, according to sources at the election office.
