The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order to not implement the decision to remove five lawmakers of Madhesh province.
On Monday, a single bench of Justice Nityananda Pandeya issued the short-term interim order halting the immediate enforcement of the decision to remove the five lawmakers for now.
Madhesh Provincial Assembly Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal had removed the five lawmakers, stating that they had not attended meetings for 10 consecutive days.
The lawmakers included Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Manish Kumar Suman, Singasan Sa Kalwar, Urmila Devi Singh, and Shankar Prasad Kalwar. They had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court after their seats were declared vacant.
The Supreme Court issued the short-term interim order during the hearing on the writ petition.
The court has issued a show-cause order to the defendant and also summoned both parties for hearings on the interim order.
