The Kathmandu district administration has expanded the areas under curfew orders.
Following tensions in the New Baneshwar area due to the protest by Gen Z, the administration had initially imposed a curfew only in and around that area.
As the protests grew more intense, the administration extended the curfew to include the Singha Durbar area, the President’s Office (Sheetal Niwas), the Vice-president’s Office, and the Narayanhiti area.
Despite the curfew, the Baneshwar area remains tense.
Police have fired warning shots and rubber bullets.
Kantipur’s video journalist Shyam Shrestha was injured by a rubber bullet. He is receiving treatment at Civil Hospital.
As the protests have become increasingly violent, the army has been put on standby.
Meanwhile, the Gen Z movement has urged protestors to retreat from Baneshwar, citing infiltration. Those managing the protest have clarified that individuals engaging in violent demonstrations do not represent them.
