The CPN (Maoist Center) and the Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP), led by Ganga Narayan Shrestha, have unified.
Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and NSP Co-chairman Shrestha signed an agreement on behalf of their respective parties during the unification ceremony held on Monday at the Kantipur Banquet in Gwarko, Lalitpur.
Shrestha moved forward with the unification process after Mahindra Raya Yadav, the then NSP chairman, stepped back from a prior agreement to unify with the Maoist Center.
On Sunday, Shrestha reshuffled the central committee and took over the party’s leadership.
An extended meeting of the party's central committee, held at Ekantakuna in Lalitpur, decided to restructure the party's central committee and appoint Co-chairman Shrestha as the coordinator.
