Poudel takes office as new NRB governor (Pictures)

Kathmandu, May 21

Newly-appointed Governor Biswo Nath Paudel assumed office on Wednesday.

Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut administered the oath of office and secrecy to Poudel at a ceremony held at the Supreme Court on Wednesday morning.

After taking the oath, Governor Poudel reached the central bank's office in Baluwatar, where he was welcomed by the bank’s employees.

The governor recommendation committee, headed by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, had recommended three names for the post of Nepal Rastra Bank governor on Tuesday afternoon.

A Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday evening decided to appoint Poudel as the 18th governor of NRB.
