A contempt of court case has been filed against Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa.
Supreme Court spokesperson Achyut Kuinkel said that the contempt case against Thapa was registered on Sunday. Advocates Ananta Raj Luitel, Pratibha Upreti, and Bishal Thapa filed the case.
Thapa recently made a speech claiming that the Supreme Court was delaying a case related to the appointment of 52 officials to constitutional bodies.
He said that the court had not yet delivered a verdict in the case even though those appointed to constitutional bodies were near the end of their tenures.
The petitioners argue that Thapa's remarks amount to contempt of court. The Supreme Court is currently reviewing the matter of constitutional appointments.
Hearing on the contempt case has been scheduled for Tuesday.
