Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa has called for return of Indian troops from the Nepali territory of Kalapni.
"We thank the government for issuing the map," Thapa said speaking during the deliberation on the amendment bill to change the map of Nepal in the coat of arms in the Constitution to implement the new map in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday. "Two resolution motions have been registered in the House. Let us integrate them and all pass a resolution to not just pass the amendment bill about map but also send the foreign army back from the Nepali territory. The government will have full support."
He urged the government to not just talk but walk the talk. "Do not hesitate. Be accountable to the parliament. We need courage and restraint, and not emotion and rage."
Pointing that the government has full support on the issue of land, he, however, reminded it to not forget about the issues of people. "We have stood together while issuing the map. We will stand together also to send back the foreign army," he stressed.
India has encroached the Nepali territory of Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura and kept army post at Kalapani for decades.
