The government will not immediately appoint culture, tourism and civil aviation minister.
Addressing the weekly press conference at the Singha Durbar on Thursday, Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota said there is no need to immediately appoint the minister as Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli is currently overseeing the ministry which also has a state minister in Dhan Bahadur Buda.
"PM is overseeing the ministry. There is also a state minister. Visit Nepal 2020 will not be affected in any manner," Baskota said answering questions about when the vacancy will be filled.
The position has remained vacant since Rabindra Adhikari died in a helicopter crash in Taplejung on February 27.
Baskota also revealed that the term of Ambassador to America Arjun Bahadur Karki has been extended until the government appoints his replacement.
Karki was appointed as envoy five years ago on quota of the then CPN-UML.
The current government in March had decided to provide perks and benefits on par with a minister to Karki and Ambassador to China Lila Mani Paudel.
