Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has said Constitution amendment cannot happen immediately.
"Constitution amendment has become a song that is sung anytime. They are calling for amendment now, or later today," Oli said answering the questions raised by the lawmakers about the government's policies and programs at the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday.
Socialist Party Nepal, Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) and others have been demanding Constitution amendment. RJP has already withdrawn support from the Oli government saying it is not serious about Constitution amendment while Socialist Party is preparing to issue ultimatum for amendment.
"Constitution amendment has become a cliché. Let us sit down and discuss it if it is for democracy, prosperity and benefit of the people. It is not that Constitution cannot be amended," Oli said.
