Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav Friday said efforts were on to develop Koshi Hospital.
In this regard, the government was devising a plan to manage a qualified workforce and equip the hospital with new equipment, he said while laying the foundation stone for a maternity service home in the premises of the hospital.
Quality health service by government hospitals would be emphasized in the new health policy, he said.
Likewise on the occasion, Social Minister of Province 1 Jiban Ghimire stressed the need for resolving problems facing the hospital.
Secretary at the ministry Dr Pushpa Chaudhary underscored the need to develop the hospital, while mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City Bhim Parajuli emphasized the creation of favorable environment to use funds received from donor agencies.
Estimated cost for the maternity home is Rs 120 million funded by the US Army, it has been shared.
