Mayor provides one year's salary, allowances to poor people

Mayor of Palungtar municipality in Gorkha district Deepak Babu Kandel has started providing health insurance to poor families from his salary and allowances as per his previous commitment. In this connection, mayor Kandel provided health insurance coverage to all family members of Krishna Bahadur Gharti of Palungtar municipality-4 on Monday. He said, "I had announced to provide salary and allowances of my first one year term for health insurance of helpless and poor people of the municipality area. I have now started this as per my commitment." Kandel said that he launched the campaign after he saw poor and helpless people facing problems in their treatment in lack of money when he was chairperson of Aappipal Hospital, Palungtar. The amount from his one year's salary and allowances would be enough to include at least five poor families of each ward into health insurance scheme.
