Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) has demanded that the Nepal Army (NA) be relieved of the responsibility to reconstruct houses of the storm victims in Bara and Parsa.
The government has already handed over the responsibility of building the houses to the NA and has even released budget. But speaking at the start of budget session of the parliament on Monday, RJP leader Anil Jha demanded that the responsibility be handed to the provincial or local government instead.
"There was the issue of building houses. Province 2 and local level had demanded help for reconstructing houses of the victims. But it was handed to the army," Jha pointed. "Engaging the army even for petty works will affect the clean image of the army and it is also against the old commitment that the army will be used only for big projects."
He stressed that the work should be done at the local level either through the provincial or local government.
He also claimed that it is the federal government's responsibility for proper management of the storm victims.
