Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota has claimed that CPN General Secretary has been duped in procurement of land at Baluwatar.
Addressing the weekly press conference on Thursday, he added that the government has formed a committee for investigation after problems in the land of Lalita Niwas. "He (Paudel) has not been involved in forgery. He is not a criminal. He has a plot of land. He became a victim," Baskota defended Paudel amidst reports of sale of land inside the prime minister's official residence in Baluwatar. "One who buys land is not involved in fraud. He was apparently duped."
He revealed that the government has already blocked the land. "I don't have anything to say if you want to attack an individual. The government has already taken action and blocked the land," he stated. "He (Paudel) is already a victim. The land was fake. Nothing more will happen."
He added that the government will not spare anyone if government land has been procured.
"General secretary has already issued a statement saying he is not involved. But nobody will be spared if found guilty. It is not a question of ruling party or opposition. The government will nationalize the land if found guilty," he assured pointing that it is the government's duty to protect public land.
