The annual report of the Election Commission for the fiscal year 2018/019 has been presented in the House of Representatives Wednesday.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal presented the report on behalf the Prime Minister. There is a constitutional provision which stipulates that the constitutional commissions should present their annual reports to the President and that report is then presented to the House of Representatives through the Prime Minister.
The message related to the Senior Citizens (First Amendment) Bill, 2075 received from the National Assembly, the upper house of the Federal Parliament, has been tabled in the House of Representatives Wednesday. Secretary of the House of Representatives Gopal Nath Yogi tabled the bill that originated in the National assembly, to the meeting of the lower house.
Also today, president of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives, Krishna Prasad Dahal presented the report of the Committee on Public-Private Partnership and Investment Bill, 2075 in the meeting of the House of Representatives.
Likewise, president of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee Sashi Shrestha presented the report of the Committee on State Public Service Commission (Basis and Criteria Determination) Bill, 2075'in the meeting of the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the lower house of parliament approved with majority the proposal seeking consideration on 'Nuclear Bill, 2075' put forth by Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel.
Responding to the questions put by 16 lawmakers regarding the bill in the meeting before this, Minister Pokharel said that the government has taken the suggestions and feedback positively that have come from the highest people's representative body regarding the sensitivity and the hazard as well as the preparation of the bill.
He clarified that the bill has been brought for facilitating the acquisition of assistance as well as for the use of technology and equipment in the health sector.
"Our country cannot become a nuclear power and the bill has not been brought to fulfill anyone's vested interest or for making Nepal the testing ground," he said. Minister Pokharel believed that the bill will make solid contribution to the study and research on the mines located in Gorkha, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Mustang.
