The bodies of 987 people who were caught in the devastating flood that hit the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on August 26 have been recovered so far.
The bodies recovered include 27 in Rasuwa, 95 in Nuwakot, 55 in Dhading, 65 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 216 in Nawalparasi East, 170 in Nawalparasi West, and 321 in Chitwan.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 3,916 people are still out of contact.
Among those missing are 25 Nepal Police personnel, 45 Nepal Army personnel, 13 Armed Police Force personnel, 15 Customs Office employees, and three Immigration Office employees. The authority also said that around 865 people are out of contact in Rasuwa.
Similarly, 1,558 people are missing in Nuwakot, while 639 people associated with hydropower projects are also out of contact. The missing also include 583 foreign nationals, 164 Nepalis who were traveling with foreign tourists, three people from Langtang National Park, and three employees of the Quarantine Office.
A total of 279 people have been injured in the flood.
The government said that it has rescued 11,814 people so far.
More than 21,000 security personnel have been deployed to flood-affected areas.
Relief materials are being distributed, while efforts are also underway to manage the bodies of those who died in the disaster.
