Three workers die after getting trapped inside septic tank in Kohalpur

Three workers have died after being trapped inside an under-construction septic tank at Shanti Tole in Kohalpur Municipality-3 of Banke district.

They were trapped at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday inside the septic tank being built in the courtyard of a house owned by local resident Daya Prasad Tharu. The house had already undergone DPC (damp-proof course) work and the pillars had been erected.

Police broke open the septic tank with the help of a JCB excavator and retrieved all three workers, who were found dead.

The bodies have been sent to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for postmortem examinations.

The deceased have been identified as approximately 40-year-old Kalu Tharu, 26-year-old Prakash Tharu, and 33-year-old Birja Tharu, all residents of Kohalpur Municipality-3.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
