The District Land Problem Resolution Committee, Chitwan, has distributed land ownership certificates to 34 landless Dalit, landless squatter, and informal settler families in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality.
According to the secretariat of Land Minister Pratibha Rawal, the locals, who had not had land registered in their names for a long time, have now legally become landowners after receiving the ownership certificates.
The government has accelerated the distribution of land ownership certificates across the country, according high priority to resolving the problems faced by landless Dalits, landless squatters, and informal settlers.
Meanwhile, land ownership certificates were also distributed on Friday to five landless Dalit and informal settler families in Kankai Municipality of Jhapa.
The government has continued its campaign to grant legal ownership of land to landless Dalits, landless squatters, and informal settlers in various parts of the country.
