A corruption case has been filed against seven individuals, including former Madhesh province minister Shailendra Prasad Sah.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the case at the Special Court on Thursday against seven individuals and one company, alleging corruption in the construction of a fun park and resort in Bagmati Municipality.
The accused, including the then minister, allegedly committed corruption by preparing a second detailed project report (DPR) for structures not envisioned in the first DPR, without ensuring returns from the project, thereby benefiting the contractor.
The CIAA has set the amount of damages at Rs 350 million against then-minister Sah and then-secretary Gajendra Kumar Thakur.
Charges have also been filed against then-mayor of Bagmati Municipality Bharat Kumar Thapa, then-deputy mayor Lila Kumari Muktan, and then-chief administrative officer Bimal Kumar Pokharel.
The CIAA has sought recovery of Rs 393.97 million from them in damages.
The other accused in the case are contractor Yuvaraj Pokharel and BKOI/Dhulikhel JV. They also face a claim of Rs 393.97 million in damages.
