The government has begun distributing land ownership certificates from Bardiya district.
According to the secretariat of Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration Pratibha Rawal, land ownership certificates were distributed to 29 landless Dalit and landless squatter families in Ward No. 4 of Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality, Bardiya.
The beneficiaries, who had lived for years without legal ownership of their land, have now become legal landowners after receiving the certificates.
The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration said that the distribution of land ownership certificates will be carried forward even more effectively in line with the government's goal to provide long-term solutions to the problems of landless Dalits, landless squatters, and informal settlers by granting them legal ownership of land.
Minister Rawal said that the government has placed a high priority on resolving the problems of landless Dalits, landless squatters, and informal settlers.
She added that the land ownership certificate distribution, which has started in Bardiya, will gradually be expanded across the country to provide genuine landless citizens with legal ownership of land.
