Protest held over squatter eviction in Kathmandu (Pictures)

Kathmandu, May 13

A demonstration was held at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu on Wednesday, alleging state repression against landless squatters.

Starting on April 25, the government evicted landless squatters living along the riverbanks in the Kathmandu Valley.

The displaced residents have since been kept in various holding centers.

During the protest, demonstrators demanded compensation for the displaced squatters. They also chanted slogans against rising inflation and alleged foreign interference.
