The family of 16-year-old Inisha BK from Surkhet has received her body.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Budhathapa said that the body was handed over to the family about an hour ago. It had been kept at Karnali Provincial Hospital, Surkhet.
The family has stated that the cremation will take place on Thursday at Samjhighat near the Bheri Bridge. The body was handed 27 days after her death.
The family agreed to take the body after the district court on Tuesday ordered all four accused to be sent to a juvenile correction center for trial in connection with BK’s rape and murder.
BK, who had left home early in the morning to attend tuition classes, was found dead on March 7 in Janajagaran Community Forest in Birendranagar Municipality-1.
The postmortem report stated that she died due to excessive bleeding caused by internal injuries to her genital area following rape.
Her parents had filed a complaint accusing four individuals of gang rape and murder.
The government attorney’s office also filed charges accordingly, stating that she died due to excessive bleeding resulting from gang rape.
All four accused, including a youth described as her boyfriend, are minors under 18 and study at the same school.
Earlier, on March 25, the District Police Office, Surkhet, had submitted its investigation report to the government attorney’s office, concluding that the rape and murder of BK was not committed by a group but involved only one perpetrator.
The police report named the alleged boyfriend as the main accused and demanded that he be sentenced to life in prison for rape and homicide.
For the other three, the police recommended prosecution on charges related to homicide.
