Three people died on the spot and eight others were injured in a jeep accident in Palpa on Friday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hom Prakash Chaudhary, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Palpa, three people died on the spot in the accident.
The identities of two of the deceased have been revealed. They have been identified as 36-year-old Hem Kumari Saru from Nisdi Rural Municipality Ward No. 7, and Om Kumari Khamcha from Nisdi Ward No. 4.
The identity of the third deceased woman has not yet been confirmed.
The jeep (Lu 1 Ja 3908) belonging to Lekbesi Transport was traveling from Arun Khola toward Rampur in Palpa when it met with the accident around 10 a.m. on Friday.
DSP Chaudhary said that the jeep fell nearly 1,200 meters from the road near a turn at Chiurebas in Nisdi Rural Municipality-4 along the Mityal-Arun Khola road section.
The jeep rolled backward and fell off the road while the driver was picking up passengers by stopping the jeep on an uphill section, he added.
According to police, eight injured passengers were rescued and taken to hospital.
The jeep driver, approximately 40-year-old Tek Bahadur Gaha Magar from Madhyabindu Municipality Ward No. 12, Nawalparasi East, was also among the injured.
DSP Chaudhary said that five of the injured were undergoing treatment at Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital in Danda, and three others were being treated at Chitwan Medical College.
