Sanjay Sah (Takla), who had escaped from Nakhkhu Prison, has been arrested.
He was apprehended on Thursday by a team from the Mangaltar Area Police Office in Kavre.
Inspector Dinesh Bahadur Kunwar of the District Police Office, Kavre, said that arrangements are being made to send Takla to Kathmandu in coordination with the Kathmandu Police.
"We have arrested 17 individuals who escaped from Nakhkhu Jail and 2 who escaped from Sindhuli," Inspector Kunwar said.
Takla, a former minister of state, was serving a prison sentence for 12 years after being convicted in the Janakpur bomb blast case.
Takla, who was a lawmaker from the then Madhesi People’s Rights Forum and Sadbhawana Party, also faces allegations of involvement in the murder of Janakpur-based media entrepreneur Arun Singhaniya.
He had escaped from the prison on Wednesday after protestors began vandalizing the facility.
