Locals have smeared soot on face of Chairman of Ichhakamana rural municipality 2 in Chitwan Pancha Bahadur Praja and put a garland of shoes on him accusing him of sorcery.
Praja, who was elected ward chairman on a CPN ticket, told Setopati that a group led by Uttar Kumar Gurung, a local, smeared soot on his face on Saturday. "They used to treat me inhumanely right from the beginning. But the group of Gurung smeared soot on my face and put a garland of shoes on me on Saturday," he stated.
He claimed that Gurung was involved in thuggery in the village for a long time. "Gurung's father accused me of sorcery. They were saying they will feed me feces but I resisted," he revealed.
DSP with Chitwan Police Ek Narayan Koirala said Gurung and Birkha Bahadur Gurung have been arrested and are kept at the District Police Office. He said additional investigation is being conducted about the incident.
