Lawmaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal, who also serves as vice-president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has registered his candidacy for the position of speaker of the House of Representatives.
Aryal filed his nomination for the post on Friday.
Aryal’s proposer is RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, while his supporters include Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, Law Minister Sobita Gautam, and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal.
In Thursday’s meeting of the RSP parliamentary party, Lamichhane had proposed Aryal’s name for the speaker position, which was unanimously approved.
The election for speaker will be held on April 5.
Aryal was elected from Kathmandu Constituency No. 9 in the House of Representatives election held on March 5.
