The government has instructed to not stop Nepalis stranded at the border from entering Nepal deeming it would not be appropriate to stop the people returning home feeling uneasy to stay in India.
"We have instructed to bring them into Nepal after necessary check-up at the border points and keep them under observation with a mandatory 14-day quarantine," Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwore Pokharel, who heads the high-level coordination committee to fight coronavirus pandemic, said.
He reasoned that the people wishing to return home cannot be stopped even on humanitarian grounds despite the government shutting down all the border points starting from Monday.
The government has also intensified acquisition of necessary health equipment. "We have made preparations to bring necessary equipment within this week at any cost," he added. "The government is committed to bringing the necessary materials even by chartering a plane if there is some kind of delay."
The government on Sunday decided to bring 19 kinds of equipment from China and 16 from India.
