Police have taken five individuals into custody for protesting and chanting slogans against Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel, who also serves as the pro-chancellor of Tribhuvan University.
On Thursday, Minister Pokharel had arrived in Kirtipur to attend the university's 67th anniversary celebration.
According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the five individuals were detained after raising slogans against Minister Pokharel outside the event venue.
Youths involved in the protest chanted slogans such as "Down with nepo babies" and "Implement meritocracy."
