Injured participants from the Gen Z movement that took place on September 8 have gathered at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.
The injured protestors assembled at Maitighar Mandala after 10 a.m. on Friday, claiming that the government has not acted in accordance with the spirit of the Gen Z movement.
“It’s been so many days since the incident, yet the government has not been able to take action against anyone,” said Madan Karki, coordinator of the injured group. “Instead, it is treating Gen Z members as if they were criminals.”
He said that they gathered to protest since the government has been supporting the old parties and their leaders instead of addressing the demands of Gen Z.
The CPN-UML has scheduled an event at Maitighar on Friday to announce its National Volunteer Force. The UML is holding the announcement event at Karki Banquet.
Karki said that they gathered at Maitighar to protest that event as well. After gathering at Maitighar, they will head to the Trauma Center for classification of the injured.
Superintendent of Police Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, confirmed that the injured youths are scheduled to visit the Trauma Center.
“They are preparing to go to the Trauma Center for verification. There is nothing else to it,” SP Bhattarai said.
