CPN-UML Koshi province in-charge Sherdhan Rai has called a meeting of the party's provincial lawmakers amid an ongoing dispute over the leadership of the Koshi provincial government.
Chief Minister Hikmat Karki, deputy leader of UML parliamentary party Til Kumar Menyangbo, provincial chairman Ghanashyam Khatiwada, and other UML lawmakers have been invited to the meeting, scheduled for Monday afternoon at the party office in Biratnagar.
Following Rai's call, provincial lawmakers have arrived in Biratnagar for the discussions.
Rai, who is also a UML secretary, arrived in Koshi carrying a message from party Chairman KP Sharma Oli aimed at resolving the party's internal dispute over the provincial government.
Under the power-sharing agreement between the UML and the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), the UML is set to lead the Koshi provincial government. However, Oli is seeking to replace incumbent Chief Minister Hikmat Karki with Til Kumar Menyangbo.
Karki, meanwhile, has maintained that he will not resign from the post.
Monday's meeting has been convened to discuss the matter and seek a resolution.
