Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala organized a gathering in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Koirala hosted the Bagmati provincial-level discussion at the Opera Hotel in Baluwatar.
The gathering was attended by former office-bearers and central members, current and former district presidents, current and former lawmakers of the Nepali Congress representing Bagmati province, members of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly, and office-bearers and members of the Nepali Congress Bagmati province committee.
According to Koirala’s secretariat, the discussion was organized to gather suggestions and formulate a strategy in light of the current situation of the country and the party.
During the discussion, participants maintained that since active memberships have already been renewed for the 15th general convention, they should not be updated again. They argued that updating memberships at this stage is impractical.
Participants also said that the party has struggled to maintain unity due to the special general convention. They further emphasized that the entire responsibility for uniting the party rests with the party president.
Prominent leaders in attendance included former general secretary Shashank Koirala, and leaders Bal Bahadur KC, Dhanraj Gurung, Badri Pandey, Jeevan Pariyar, NP Saud, Deepak Giri, Sanjay Gautam, Shiva Humagain, Rajeev Koirala, Tek Prasad Gurung, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, Govinda Raj Pokharel, Kiran Yadav, and Ganesh Lama.
Other attendees included Those in attendance included federal lawmakers Chandra Mohan Yadav, Urmila Thapaliya, and Geeta Devkota; Bagmati Provincial Committee General Secretary Raju Shrestha, Joint General Secretary Jeevan Dangol, and members Upendra Lamsal, Shanta Chhetri, Hom Chaulagain, Nanu Dahal, Sunita Kafle, and Asmin Sitaula.
Also present were Dhading District President Ramnath Adhikari, Nuwakot District President Ramesh Mahat, Chitwan District President Rajeshwar Khanal, Makawanpur Vice-president Dharma Lamichhane, and Sindhuli Secretary Ishwar Basnet.
The gathering also included Kathmandu Metropolitan City President Nilkaji Shakya, Bagmati Provincial Assembly members Ram Krishna Chitrakar and Hariprabha Khadgi, former provincial lawmakers Narottam Baidya and Bijula Verma, Kirtipur Mayor Krishna Man Dangol, former central president of Tarun Dal Binod Kayastha, and leader Lokesh Dhakal.
