The Nepali Congress faction led by former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba held a discussion in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
The meeting was led by leader Purna Bahadur Khadka.
Leaders said that the agenda for discussion included election review and internal party matters.
Leaders Shekhar Koirala, Bimalendra Nidhi, Shashank Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, Minendra Rijal, Dina Upadhyay, Bal Bahadur KC, NP Saud, Shyam Kumar Ghimire, and Mohan Bahadur Basnet, among others, took part in the discussion.
The participants included central committee members elected from the party’s 14th general convention.
The Deuba faction described this discussion as a meeting of the central committee formed through the 14th general convention.
A special general convention held in January elected a central committee under the leadership of Gagan Thapa. The Deuba faction did not participate in the special general convention.
The Deuba faction has filed a case in the Supreme Court opposing the Election Commission’s recognition of the special general convention, and the case is currently under consideration.
Within the party, both the central committee formed through the special general convention and the one that did not participate in it are carrying out parallel activities.
Deuba himself was not present at the discussion, as he is currently abroad for medical treatment.
