The Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal has held a public demonstration in Kathmandu.
The demonstration, which started from Sundhara at noon on Thursday, reached Bhrikuti Mandap and turned into a public rally.
Leaders including Chand addressed the rally.
The Chiran Pun group, which rebelled from the CPN, was part of the unification of 10 leftist groups, including the CPN (Maoist Center), that took place on Wednesday. The name of the unified party is Nepali Communist Party.
Although Chand had initiated efforts for leftist unity after the Gen Z movement, he did not participate in Wednesday's unification.
He has registered his party with the Election Commission. The party has been named Communist Party of Nepal.
