The Nepali Congress Reform Campaign has padlocked the main gate of the party’s central office in Sanepa.
On Sunday, youths locked the party office, demanding that the party announce the date for the 15th general convention and ensure representation of youths.
Former treasurer of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) Shiva Rimal, NSU central member Premika Rana Magar, Bhuwan Bhatta, Manish Rayamajhi, and others, who called themselves the Nepali Congress Reform Campaign, padlocked the NC’s central office on Sunday. They are close to NC leader Shekhar Koirala.
Koirala has been calling for the 15th general convention to be held within Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December).
"We have padlocked the party office today with demands that youth representation should be 40 percent and the 15th general convention schedule should be brought soon," Rimal told Setopati.
The Nepali Congress central committee meeting, which started on October 14, has been repeatedly postponed due to disputes over the general convention schedule.
Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has been holding a meeting with office-bearers and former office-bearers since Sunday morning. He has also been holding informal one-on-one discussions with individual party leaders at a hotel in Dhobighat, Lalitpur.
