The central committee meeting of the CPN-UML has started at the party’s central office in Chyasal.
The meeting will present the draft of the party statute to be submitted at the upcoming statute convention.
Vice-chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel, coordinator of the statute draft committee, will present the statute approved by the secretariat and politburo to the central committee, according to Rajendra Gautam, a standing committee member and head of the publicity and publication department.
The meeting’s agenda includes allowing interested central committee members three minutes to express their views on the proposed statute.
As secretariat, standing committee, and politburo members have already expressed their views in higher committees, only central committee members will speak at Monday's meeting.
Apart from the secretariat, standing committee, and politburo, the UML has about 230 central committee members.
Although the meeting is scheduled to conclude on Monday or Tuesday, the party central office said that if all central committee members seek time to express their views, it may extend until Wednesday.
