CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal have assured President Bidya Devi Bhandari that they do not plan to impeach her.
Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli had told ministers and state ministers Saturday evening that plots are being hatched to impeach the president and topple the government.
The three leaders, who have demanded resignation of Oli, met President Bhandari after Oli made the accusations after meeting the president on Saturday. The three assured President Bhandari that they do not have any plan to impeach her during the meeting of around 45 minutes.
"Leaders said the rumors that the president is being impeached are baseless and they have no such plan," Dahal's press advisor Bishnu Sapkota told Setopati about the meeting. "They said that they have not dragged the honorable institution of presidency to the internal dispute in the party."
The three leaders also urged President Bhandari to not support any unconstitutional step PM Oli may take.
Dahal is meeting Oli in Baluwatar after meeting President Bhandari.
CPN General Secretary Bishnu Paudel and Province 5 Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel are also present in the meeting from Oli's side while Dahal is with his lieutenants Barsha Man Pun and Janardan Sharma.
