Tinau River flood sweeps away six houses in Butwal (Pictures)

Flooding has occurred in the Tinau River following continuous rainfall.

The flood swept away six houses in the Tap Majhuwa area of Butwal Sub-metropolitan City-11.

Floodwaters breached an embankment built to protect the settlement and swept away six houses.

Police had already evacuated more than 1,000 people from around 200 households in settlements including Tap Majhuwa, Pragati Nagar, Hattisudh, and Yuddha Nagar to safer locations during the night.

No human casualties have been reported.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Nishant Srivastav, chief of the Area Police Office in Butwal, the flow of the Tinau River had decreased somewhat by Sunday morning.

The Flood Forecasting Division said that the Tinau River had exceeded the warning level and reached the danger level from 8 p.m. on Saturday.

The division reported that the river's water level stood at 6.58 meters on Sunday morning.
