The squatter settlement located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Balkhu, Kathmandu, has been demolished.
Bulldozers were deployed to tear down the houses and huts in the area starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
The administration had issued an order as early as 7 a.m. to vacate the settlement.
Residents were given a short amount of time in the morning to retrieve their remaining belongings from their homes before the demolition began.
After the settlement was cleared, the squatters were instructed to go to Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar for screening.
It has been stated that they will be moved to holding centers following the screening process at the stadium.
