The Rato Machchhindranath chariot festival has begun in Lalitpur.
The longest festival in the Kathmandu Valley began on Tuesday after the deity Machchhindranath was ceremoniously installed on the newly constructed chariot at Pulchowk.
Starting from Pulchowk, the chariot will be pulled through various parts of the city toward Lagankhel, eventually reaching Jawalakhel.
The historic festival will conclude with the Bhoto Jatra at Jawalakhel, where a jewel-studded bhoto (vest) is displayed to the public.
