The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has launched a cleaning campaign for the rivers and streams within the city.
With the monsoon season approaching, the metropolis initiated this drive to prevent flooding in residential areas and to preserve urban aesthetics.
As part of the campaign, workers are pruning flowering plants and trees planted along the riverbanks, as well as removing overgrown weeds. Additionally, waste and debris trapped in the waterways are being removed.
According to the KMC, rivers and streams including the Tukucha and Bishnumati have already been cleaned, while the remaining rivers and streams will also be cleaned in phases.
