Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, is being celebrated in the hilly regions of Nepal on Monday.
In Kathmandu, a large number of people usually gather in the Basantapur area to celebrate the festival.
This year, however, the festive atmosphere is not as vibrant as in previous years since the House of Representatives election is scheduled to take place on March 5.
The administration has also urged people to celebrate Holi at home rather than gathering in large groups.
Also, since many people are busy with election campaigning, the typical excitement of past years is missing.
Nevertheless, Holi celebrations began early Monday morning in Basantapur, with locals and tourists from various countries joining in the festivities.
