The Scrap Traders Struggle Committee organized a protest against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Monday.

Scrap dealers in Kathmandu took part in the protest and picketed the KMC’s office in Kamaladi.

The protestors demanded guarantee of the constitutional right to engage in business and occupation. They also called for an immediate stop to the beatings, abductions, excesses, and demolition of structures by the KMC against scrap dealers, collectors, and workers, and legal action against KMC police personnel involved in such excesses.

Additionally, they demanded that the government intervene immediately to ensure the safety of the lives and property of scrap dealers, collectors, and workers, and that the KMC provide compensation for the damages caused to scrap dealers over the past two years.
