A rally was organized at Basantapur in Kathmandu on Thursday to mark the 31st International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
The Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) organized the rally from Basantapur to Hanuman Dhoka.
Participants in the rally, belonging to various indigenous communities, wore traditional attire reflecting their cultures.
The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is celebrated across the world on August 9 in recognition of the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations held in Geneva in 1982.
Organizing a press conference on Sunday, NEFIN said that it would celebrate the day with various events from August 9 to 13 this year.
