Locals have started removing unauthorized structures along the Jadibuti-Pepsicola road in Kathmandu.
The Department of Roads and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City had jointly issued a notice directing the removal of structures within 15 meters on both sides of the road.
Superintendent of Police Dinesh Aryal at KMC Police said that a 35-day deadline was given for the purpose.
"After the notice was published in the Gorkhapatra, on April 30, we posted notices and made announcements via microphone to remove structures on both sides of the road within 35 days," he said.
Before the deadline expired, locals began removing structures within 15 meters on either side of the road.
According to the Department of Roads, the 15-meter boundary on both sides of the road was established as per a notice published in the Nepal Gazette on December 3, 2001, and markers were placed on April 23 this year.
